Don't waste your time with this hotel. The facility is not kept up at all and the staff couldn't care less about customer service or their customers. I've stayed at many different hotels in many different locations around the U.S. and this is the first time I checked out of the room after the first night and had to move elsewhere.
Amy and I had a list of complaints about the facility and its staff:
- The room was advertised as "hotel with pool" and when we got there, it was apparently closed since July 20th. We were never informed about this by their staff or on the web site when we booked the room.
- There is no elevator to the second floor. This is often useful if you just got off an airplane with large baggage or if you're disabled.
- The room was dirty and smelled odd.
- The sink would not drain (or drained so slow I was able to 1/2 fill the sink while brushing my teeth and I went to the front desk to complain and was able to come back up to my room and the sink was about 1/2 inch lower than when I left).
- When I went to the front desk and asked for a manager, the lady working the counter was happy to help me and called for the manager. When Allyson (the manager) came to the desk, she just stared at me. I guessed that meant she wanted me to come to the counter. She did not offer her name until I asked (and that same helpful counter person gave me Allyson's card). Amy and I had written down a list of issue and I showed it to her and she wasn't interested in viewing it at all. I asked if she wanted to make a copy and she finally said she'll copy it and give it to the general manager. She didn't apologize for anything at all and actually said very little.
Because of the desk manager and the cleaning staff's lack of concern for their clients, Amy and I will choose to not only not stay there but stay at any Days Inn. Amy's family also live there and will also pass on the information to stay elsewhere (like the Holiday Inn Express right next door).
I have never had to leave a hotel because of the horrid conditions and the way we were treated but leave it to the Days Inn in Madisonville Kentucky to give me my first experience of absolute ingratitude.
With that said, the next hotel that we stayed at, Holiday Inn Express, was really nice for the price and it was literally next to the Days Inn. They even offer a full breakfast (Biscuits & gravy / meat (sausage or bacon – depending on the day) / cold cereal / oatmeal / juice and milk / yogurt .. and more). This review is associated to the Holiday Inn Express address book entry which has their contact information.
